Mawson Court entrance works
Note: You may also wish to download the letter sent to residents.
As you are aware we are currently working in Gopsall Street installing all of the new statutory utilities services for all phases of the new leisure centre, academy and genuinely affordable housing on the Hackney Britannia project.
We are installing all of the utilities (district heating, data, and electrical supplies) in one combined services trench. The reason we are working in this rather unusual way is to reduce the overall impact of the works for local residents. If we had installed these in the more traditional way, with each of the statutory utilities being installed separately by the relevant statuary supplier, it would have involved Gopsall street being closed on four separate occasions by UKPN, BT, CCTV and a district heating installer for each supply to be installed.
We are now at the point where we need to link the service trenches across the entrance to Mawson Court and need to carry out some excavation works that will affect the entrance to Mawson court for one week starting on Monday 16 September, completing by Friday 20 September.
Please be assured that we will carry out the excavation across the Mawson Court entrance in two halves, at all times leaving one half of the entrance (2.5m width) for car access into Mawson Court. As soon as the works are complete, and at the end of each night we will install steel plates over the excavation to provide the full 5 metre width of the current access. This is a standard industry recognised way of carrying out these works.
These works have been agreed with the London Borough of Hackney refuse team who have confirmed they will still be able to remove rubbish from Mawson Court in the usual manner. The works have also been discussed with London Fire Brigade who have confirmed that they are still able to serve Mawson Court in the event of an emergency.
Please download our information pack showing what the works will look like on each day from Monday 16 September through to completion on Friday 20 September.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we will do our best to minimise the disruptions.
